– Festivalul Filmului Artistic Polonez, Gdynia, ediţia a XXIX-a, 13-18 septembrie 2004
Cel mai cunoscut şi apreciat festival de film dedicat exclusiv filmelor poloneze din anul precedent, adevărat etalon al calităţii. O foarte bună ocazie de a face cunoştinţă cu cinematograful independent, de a întîlni lumea cinematografică. Pe lîngă proiecţiile din cadrul concursului, au loc proiecţii speciale şi retrospective, conferinţe de presă, evenimente adiţionale, precum şi o secţiune paralelă a cinematografului independent. Preşedintele juriului din acest an va fi cunoscutul actor şi regizor Jerzy Stuhr. Informaţii neoficiale de pe site-ul stopklatki.pl spun că, în competiţia principală vor lua parte 27 de filme poloneze, dar conform directorului festivalului, Maciej Karpiński, vor fi în jur de 20. La începutul lunii august se va cunoaşte lista finală a filmelor ce vor fi proiectate la Gdynia.

În jur de 160 de filme din 40 de ţări (dintre care foarte multe la o singură proiecţie în Polonia) este oferta acestui festival. Sînt filme care nu au şansa de a intra în circuitul comercial, filme care uimesc sau intrigă. În avangarda filmelor taiwaneze, ruseşti, coreene (acestea din urmă bucurîndu-se de o panoramă separată) a fost filmul de deschidere al festivalului, “Mala educacion” (Educaţie proastă) în regia binecunoscutului Pedro Almodóvar, ce a adus cu sine o dezbatere pe tema perversiei. Dar dincolo de proiecţii este principala atracţie a festivalului: publicul, unul tînăr, fantastic, constituit din iubitori de cinema şi artă, cineaşti, într-un cuvînt, oameni care vor să discute despre film pînă tîrziu, mult după ce sesiunea de discuţii după fiecare proiecţie s-a terminat. Oameni care se uită pe ecran ca la viaţa reală şi reacţionează în consecinţă: rîd, bat din palme, îşi încurajează personajele. Un festival de succes, dacă mai ţinem cont că nu se petrece într-un mare oraş, ci într-un loc de vacanţă. “Gazeta Wyborcza” este principalul partener media al festivalului.
– Canalul Kino Polska a fost nominalizat la “Oscarul satelitar”
Canalul de filme Kino Polska a obţinut o nominalizare la premiul Hot Bird, ce este acordat de către ziariştii europeni canalelor satelitare tematice. Acest canal funcţionează din 20 ianuarie 2003, iar categoria la care a primit nominalizarea este cea a canalelor de film. Cîştigătorii vor fi desemnaţi pe 2 octombrie la Veneţia, în cadrul tîrgului SAT Expo 2004.
– Cracovia se luptă pentru “TVP Cultură”
Televiziunea poloneză se pregăteşte de deschiderea unui nou canal, cultural, dar locaţia sediului nu este încă cunoscută. Oficialităţile cracoviene au venit la Varşovia pentru a purta discuţii cu vicepremierul Jerzy Hausner, cu ministrul culturii Waldemar Dąbrowski, preczn şi cu directorul Televiziunii Poloneze Jan Dworak şi cu Jacek Weksler, care se ocupă de acest nou canal, în scopul stabilirii sediului la Cracovia. La schimb, ei se obligă să susţină funcţionarea acestui canal. Aceeaşi ofertă a venit însă şi din partea oraşului Wrocław, iar ministrul culturii acordă Varşoviei cele mai mari şanse. Decizia finala nu a fost încă luată.
– Blues Express Festival, la ediţia a XII-a
Unul dintre cele mai mari festivaluri din Polonia a avut un început mai puţin obişnuit: din gara din Poznań a plecat un tren plin de bluesmani. Vagonul poştal a fost amenajat ca scenă de concert pentru formaţia Nadmiar, iar restaurantul este ocupat de Boogie Boys. În staţiile în care va opri acest tren special sînt programate concerte de cîte 30 de minute, în care vor evolua, printre alţii, Teenage Beat, Tortilla, Debesters. Concertul final are loc la Zakrzewa, la aproximativ 150 km distanţă de Poznań, într-un amfiteatru natural de pe malul lacului Proboszczowski. Atracţia serii finale (la care participă de obicei în jur de 10.000 de persoane) este trioul de negri Michael Hill`s Blues Mob din New York. După terminarea festivalului, “Blues Express-ul” se va întoarce la Poznań.
NIKE 2004
Despre NIKE se ştie deja că este cel mai cunoscut premiu literar din Polonia, ce se acordă anual pentru cea mai bună carte din anul precedent. Cîştigătorii ediţiilor din 1997 pînă acum sînt: Wiesław Myśliwski, Widnokrąg (Orizont), Czesław Milosz, Piesek Przydrozny (Cîinele de la marginea drumului), Stanisław Baranczak, Chirurgiczna precyzja. Elegie i piosenki z lat 1995-1997 (Precizie chirurgicală. Elegii şi cîntece din 1995-1997), Tadeusz Różewicz, Matka odchodzi (Mama pleacă), Jerzy Pilch, Pod mocnym aniołem (Sub îngerul puternic), Joanna Olczak-Roniker, W ogrodzie pamięci (În grădina amintirilor), Jarosław Marek Rymkiewicz, Zachod słońca w Milanowku (Apus de soare la Milanowek). Nominalizările de anul acesta au fost anunţate pe 20 mai, în cadrul Tîrgului de Carte din Varşovia, urmînd ca pe 2 septembrie ac să fie cunoscute numele celor 7 finalişti, iar pe 3 octombrie va avea loc ceremonia decernării premiului.

TERMS AND REGULATIONS in 2004
The Eighth International Competition of Contemporary Chamber Music will be held on 2-5 September 2004 in Cracow. It is organized yearly by The Institute of Art in Cracow.
- The competition is divided into four categories:
– soloists,
– duos,
– trios,
– quartets and quintets.
The competition is open to soloists and groups of different instruments, as well as vocalists. The participants can only be persons whose age, by 2nd September 2004, is below 30 years.
2. The number of participants is limited.
3. The Jury qualifies the participants on the basis of the applications sent in.
4. The qualifications do not concern laureates of domestic and overseas competitions and music festivals, on condition that these events were held after 1999. The Jury qualifies the participants on the basis of the proof of winning a prize, sent in alongside the application.
5. The candidates send in:
– application form,
– the participant’s profile,
– two photographs of the participant,
– scores of pieces to perform,
– the proof of winning a prize at other competitions or festivals,
– original performances of two pieces of music (one Polish piece obligatory) recorded on an audio or a video tape. The obligation to sending in recordings of two pieces of music does not concern laureates of competitions and festivals mentioned in section 4 of the regulations.
The application deadline is 10th August 2004.
6. Total time of the recordings sent in alongside applications must not exceed 40 minutes (fragments of music pieces are allowed).
7. On request from the participants, the Organization Office supplies scores of Polish music allowed in the competition.
8. A change in the competition program (in relation to the recordings sent in) is allowed, on condition that this fact is indicated in the application, provided that the music pieces to be performed during the competition are in accordance with the regulations (see section 16).
9. The competition auditions are open to the audience.
10. The participants will be judged by international jury consisting of distinguished musicians and scholars. The chairman of the jury in 2004 is Prof. Marek Stachowski. Decisions of the jury are irrevocable. The chairman of the Jury only may decide any changes to the regulations.
11. The music may be performed from scores.
12. The competition auditions are divided into two stages. In the first stage the Jury constitutes a group of finalists and winners in each category and it awards the Special Prize for the best performance of Polish music. In the second stage the Jury selects the laureate of Grand Prix from the finalists.
13. The Jury has the right to hear only a part of the program performed. The participants may be requested by the Jury to repeat their performances at a time appointed by the Jury, not later than the last day of the auditions.
14. The main prize of the competition is Grand Prix – 30.000 zlotys (7.800 USD*) and a statuette. The Jury also awards prizes for winners in each category (statuettes, diplomas, money) and extra prizes. The Jury awards the Special Prize for the best performance of Polish music – 10.000 zlotys (2.600 USD*). The Jury awards also the Special Prize for the best performance of a Dutch composer. The amount of this award will be known in the future. The Jury reserves the right to not award any prizes in justified cases.
15. The winners are obliged to take part in the laureate concert, which will be held after the last day of auditions after the official prize-giving ceremony. The organizers reserve the right to perform free-of-charge video-acoustic recordings during the competition auditions and the laureate concert and access possible recordings by radio and television.
16. The program of the competition consists of performances of two freely selected pieces of modern music written after 1965 in case of overseas composers and after 1945 in case of Polish composers. One piece by a Polish composer is obligatory in the competition program. Karol Szymanowski’s music is allowed in the competition. Electro-acoustic equipment is allowed in the competition.
17. The Jury reserves the right to request for a performance of a third, non-obligatory piece, being in accordance with the conditions above or for a repetition of a piece applied for the competition.
18. Laureates of previous editions of the competition will be allowed to enter for the competition, on condition that they change their program.
19. The cost of participation is 100 zlotys (30 USD*) paid by every group qualified to the competition, regardless of the number of people in a group. Overseas participants pay the value of 100 zlotys in their own currency. The fee covers the costs of qualification and postal fees. The fee should be paid within 14 days from the confirmation of participation in the competition. All participants are guaranteed to receive free accommodation and one free hot meal daily during the competition by the organizers. The organization office can provide the accommodation and board for the accompanied persons on condition that they cover total expenses. In the case of resignation from participation in the competition, the organization office does not refund any participation fees.
20. Travel costs are covered by the participants. The organization office can cover travel costs in exceptional circumstances.
21. Further information about the accommodation, dates of arrival and the duty time of the organization office will be sent to participants.
